A few episodes back, when Greg (Nicholas Braun) thought he was picking out a gift from Kendall (Jeremy Strong), the watch salesman told his prospective client, “Your phone is a widget — every janitor in America has one.” Long before that demeaning reference, Roman (Kieran Culkin) tortured a janitor and his family, dangling a check for $1 million if his young son could hit a home run during a “fun” family softball game....

The film opens with a shot that shouldn’t be so radical, but is: Sam (Firth) and Tusker (Tucci) are asleep, and naked, spooning amid tangled bedsheets, and the way Sam hangs clings to his partner telegraphs a gulf ahead. It’s so tender a moment you almost don’t want the camera to flinch. Sam, we learn, is a decorated composer, and Tusker a celebrated novelist, and to mark 20 years of being together, they’re embarking on a road trip across England to a destination that will prove devastating....

And what kind of picture is it? Big, certainly: IMAX-scaled, and a hefty 150 minutes even after a visibly ruthless edit. It’s clever, too — yes, the palindromic title has some narrative correlation — albeit in an exhausting, rather joyless way. As second comings go, “Tenet” is like witnessing a Sermon on the Mount preached by a savior who speaks exclusively in dour, drawn-out riddles. Any awe is flattened by follow-up questions....

Most of this child’s time is spent around Natasha (Michelle de Swarte), an accomplished chef who escapes the city for a remote cabin. (The location for her rented vacation place can best be described as “the foot of The Cliffs of Insanity,” a nice early surreal touch in a pilot directed by “Watchmen” vet Nicole Kassell.) After a startlingly matter-of-fact series of events, she returns as the unsuspecting guardian of the small, crawling Baby....

Variety and Deadline reported on Monday afternoon that a Penguin-focused television series was in the works. Colin Farrell, who will portray the iconic supervillain in “The Batman,” has been approached to star in the spinoff. No deals have been inked, according to the publications. Deadline stated that the series was “‘Scarface’-like”; Variety reported that the show would delve into the Penguin’s rise to power in Gotham’s criminal underworld. An HBO Max representative declined to comment....

While original musical numbers have long been a part of the “Bob’s Burgers” repertoire, the cinematic spin-off takes things to the next level. “It’s not so much that we wanted to do it differently, but we wanted to do it bigger and as make as much of a spectacle as we could manage, to make it fill the speakers and fill the room,” series creator and “Bob’s Burgers Movie” writer-director Loren Bouchard told IndieWire....

Disney has billed “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” which will premiere on March 19, as a global adventure that tests the abilities — and the patience — of its titular protagonists. Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan will star in the series as Sam Wilson/Falcon and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, respectively. The duo previously appeared in a handful of Marvel Cinematic Universe films. The characters were last seen in “Avengers: Endgame,” where Captain America (Chris Evans) passed his mantle and iconic shield to the Falcon....

Carried to safety by her fellow handmaids, June recites Exodus 3: 7-8 to herself, which speaks of the Lord seeing the suffering of his people and delivering them to a land of milk and honey....

Such is the clever conceit of Evan Morgan’s feature directorial debut, “The Kid Detective,” which picks up decades after Abe’s fledgling career was felled by a truly heinous crime. Oh, Abe (Adam Brody, sharing the role with young Jesse Noah Gruman in flashbacks) is still a detective — he’s even got the same office, just with the “kid” scratched off the old-school frosted glass door, he’s just “detective” now — but after his tween secretary went missing when they were still just youngsters and Abe couldn’t so much as come up with a suspect, the gloss was off his profession....

Peacock, which launched nationally in July 2020, surpassed 42 million sign-ups during the fiscal quarter, meaning that the streaming service courted around 9 million new users since the company’s last earnings report. As before, there’s a caveat to the latest statistic: Peacock is one of the few major streaming services that has a free ad-supported tier, as well as two premium tiers that cost $4.99 per month and $9.99 per month....

But rarely is a debut hour of TV so upfront about its most prominent hang-up: “The Problem with Jon Stewart” is having an identity crisis. Unsure of its place in a vast news world and reluctant to lean into its host’s established strengths, the early problem with “The Problem” is that it doesn’t know what it is yet, even after Stewart’s six-year departure from desk duty....
