The project was announced back in 2017 after the Safdies released their feature film “Good Time.” Carmichael would have also starred in the movie, which tells the story of a cop and a convict who team up to catch a pair of cop-killers. The title refers to the fact that one of the characters, a former cop serving time for armed robbery, is released from prison for 48 hours in order to help solve the murders....

Warner Bros. requested Depp leave the “Fantastic Beasts” franchise after the actor lost his highly publicized U.K. libel trial. While filming “We Own This City,” Bernthal told The Hollywood Reporter that there was no room for the modern understanding of method acting while on set. Drive will be seen Christmas Day in the four-episode prequel to the Netflix series “The Witcher: Blood Origin” as Seanchaí, a shapeshifting, time-traveling storyteller. The character may also pop up in future seasons of the main “Witcher” universe, with Season 3 starring Henry Cavill for the last time before Liam Hemsworth replaces him. But Driver doesn’t understand all the uproar about the recasting. “We come from this tradition of ‘Doctor Who’ where the Doctor regenerates,” Driver pointed out to EW in a recent interview....

“Morbius” is based on the Marvel Comics series of the same name by Roy Thomas. In the comics, Leto’s Michael Morbius is a scientist suffering from a rare blood disease whose attempts to find a cure result in him acquiring the powers of a vampire. The supporting cast includes Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Jared Harris, and Tyrese Gibson. “Morbius” is the latest directorial effort from Daniel Espinoza, who last directed Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds in the space thriller “Life....

Imbuing the lavish period delights of “Mrs. Maisel” with a lively post-menopausal heroine “Hacks” made trendy, “Mrs. Harris” goes down like a sugary amuse-bouche of entertainment — it won’t make a lasting impression but it’s the perfect thing for the moment. The movie begins in 1957 London, where Mrs. Ada Harris (Manville) has finally received word, after years of holding out hope, that her dear Eddie was killed in action some dozen years prior....

“‘Oh, come on, Daniel. No, no way. Is like you are making movie for the case of my death,’” Alexei Navalny dismissively replies to the camera. “‘Let’s make a thriller out of this movie, and in the case I would be killed, let’s make a boring movie of memory.” The film then cuts — somewhat tongue-in-cheek, as if Roher has taken Navalny’s direction — to a dramatic overhead drone shot of a snowy road accompanied by a piece of score worthy of an intense action thriller....

“I think there’s something sexy about casting a straight actor to play a gay role — if they’re willing to invest a lot into it,” Harris told The Times (via Advocate). “In our world that we live in you can’t really as a director demand that [an actor be a given sexual orientation],” he said. “Who’s to determine how gay someone is?” Harris is perhaps most famous for playing a straight character, the womanizing bachelor Barney Stinson, in the long-running CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother....
