It’s a tale as old as time — made all the more prominent thanks to reality TV — but directors Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady want to tell us a different version of this classic con artist tale. It’s not about a group of women sitting down to warn others of the dangers of dating; it’s about a gang of women hellbent on obtaining revenge and justice by any means necessary....

The best warning of what’s to come arrives in the opening credits: the film comes from six screenwriters, and while many of the half-dozen scribes (not counting the two additional with only “story by” credits) it took to write “Magic Camp” are quite talented folk (top credited duo Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster most recently wrote the lovely “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” Matt Spicer and Max Winkler are both rising filmmakers), little of that magic makes its way into this feature....

Soderbergh first watched “Mank” on March 21, well before the film’s public premiere in November 2020. Soderbergh re-watched the film two days later, again in May, and viewed it a fourth and final time on December 2. Filmmaker Jordan Peele may love putting his characters through hell, but he’s also just as delighted to bring them back through it, ending his thrillers and chillers with vaguely happy endings (or, at the very least, endings where his stars live, or perhaps more appropriately, live to tell everything they’ve just been through). Such was the case with his breakout debut, “Get Out,” which sees stars Daniel Kaluuya and Lil Rel Howrey surviving a series of horrifying attacks, racist revelations, and enough nightmare material to basically make sure they (and probably the audience) never set foot in a stranger’s home ever again....

Back in Episode 4, podcaster extraordinaire Cinda Canning (Tina Fey) not only provided the narration that bookended “The Sting,” but she also teased the ending of “Only Murders in the Building” by flashing “a few months” ahead. The host of “All Is Not OK in Oklahoma” — the true crime series that first brought together Charles (Steve Martin), Mabel (Selena Gomez), and Oliver (Martin Short) — was suddenly talking about them, only it didn’t make much sense at the time....
