Dexter is back with a new name and location, but will he kill again? Find out how the story unfolds when “Dexter: New Blood” premieres on Showtime November 7. If Showtime isn’t on your channel lineup, don’t worry, you can stream the revival series and anything else on cable network, from any compatible device. And it’s free for the first month.

“Dexter: New Blood” picks up a decade after the events that took place in the 2013 “Dexter” finale. In the new series, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) has suppressed his serial killer urges and changed his name to Jim Lindsay. He lives a quiet, small-town life as a local shopkeeper in the fictitious Iron Lake, New York.

He may not be able to hide for long though. After a string of incidents in town, Dexter fears that his dark urges will rise back to the surface. Writes IndieWire TV critic Ben Travers, “For all that has changed in the last decade, Showtime’s crime drama — and its conflicted killer — remain the same. At their core, at least. On the surface, there are alterations aplenty. Having left his old life in Miami behind, Dexter now finds himself on the opposite end of America’s climate spectrum, and he’s reintroduced here huffing and puffing through a light dusting of snow, rifle in hand, Iggy Pop’s ‘The Passenger’ blaring for the audience’s benefit. “But when our Carhartt-clad hunter approaches his target (a white buck rather than a human being), he can’t pull the trigger. Not only that, but the audience can’t hear why. Continuing with the trend so briefly established in the (former) series finale, Dexter is a blank slate; a shell of his former self, emptied out by the tragedies he wrought. The voice in his head has been silenced because, if he listened to it, he might kill again, thus endangering anyone he cares about who’s still breathing.” Besides “Dexter: New Blood,” Showtime is home to “American Rust,” “The Affair,” “Black Monday,” “City on a Hill” “Billions,” “The L Word,” “Couples Therapy,” “The Chi,” “Shameless,” and other Showtime Originals including “Ziwe” and “Desus & Mero.” With Showtime, you’ll get instant access to original series, movies, documentaries, sports content, and more.
