Super Bowl LV will be aired on CBS at 6:30 p.m. ET and will be announced by Jim Nantz and Tony Romo. Viewers can check their local TV listings to determine which channel CBS is on in their area. Coronavirus-related safety measures mean that the upcoming Super Bowl will boast a more limited in-person audience than prior Super Bowls. Only 22,000 fans will be able to attend the game. The National Football League announced earlier in January that it would give 7,500 free tickets to vaccinated health care workers.
“These dedicated health care workers continue to put their own lives at risk to serve others, and we owe them our ongoing gratitude,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement on January 22. “We hope in a small way that this initiative will inspire our country and recognize these true American heroes. This is also an opportunity to promote the importance of vaccination and appropriate health practices, including wearing masks in public settings.” Three-time Grammy-winning Canadian musician The Weeknd is set to perform during the Super Bowl LV halftime show. Last year’s game featured Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. NBC was originally scheduled to air Super Bowl LV, but the network swapped years with CBS so NBC could air both the Super Bowl and the Winter Olympics in 2022. NBC was slated to air the Winter Olympics in 2020 — as well as stream a variety of Olympics events on its recently-launched Peacock streaming service — before the Olympics were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
